Hey, did you guys know I made another game a long time ago?: )

Yes - my only other finished project is Maziac. It's a fairly terrible exploration platformer that might look a little like Spelunky, but was made years before Derek Yu's mega popular random generated game.
Well - it has now been added to the "Finished Projects" section along with Ultionus.
Maziac is completely free for Windows, assuming your machine can run something written in GameMaker 5 or earlier (it's all software graphics - no DirectX required!: )

    1. Hasn't happened on any of the systems I tried it on, but that's quite possible. The game was written in GM5 which is ancient.
I'll upload a copy of this for more modern platforms sometime soon.

    2. Hello. I tried to run it on Windows 10 64-bit, but it refused! I changed the compatibility all the way to Windows 98/ME, and it still just gets stuck on the "presented by" screen. Recompile please?

    3. There is a really dumb reason why I never re-released Maziac (aside from the game being a bunch of wank). I had a friend re-do all of its music, as in the original I just "borrowed" some from old computer games. Well, my friend did an awesome job but ran out of steam at the 90% mark... And now I'm stuck being just one track short: )
I do have a library of royalty-free music, so I might just go and pick a track from there.
Still - the game is terrible!
My Maziac Twin project, which would've been a remake or reimagining of the original has become Mystik Belle - a very different kind of adventure.

    4. Oh just repeat the music for a couple of areas in the begging, or just use those royalty-free tracks! I'll be the judge of how "terrible" it really is!

I did enjoy Ultionus though! Thanks for that one! I really hated those damn water serpent/dragons though! Hehehe

By the way, as long as the game is free, AND you mention that it has "borrowed parts" (and where you borrowed them from), it shouldn't matter that it has music from old defunct games! It's like a tribute to those old games.

Let me know if you ever remake it!

    5. Hello again! On new year's eve, just before the new year rolled in, I decided to spend that night trying to get Maziak to work! I went and got a Windows XP VM working, and then a Windows 98 VM working (that one was a pain to get the game files to!), and guess what? THE GAME DIDN'T WORK ON THOSE OSes EITHER! It did the same thing, and just doesn't go past that screen with the "eggheaded" guy. This leads me to believe that file you uploaded here wasn't compiled quite right. Have you tried running this file in particular? Anyway, I'll be waiting for a re-compile! I'm not giving up on playing this game! Hehehe

    6. Hey, higado (and all that want this game), through some strong google fu I have found an older and working build of the game (at least on my PC). Here:

Try it out, the game is pretty hard.

    7. HOLY CRAP! It only took two years, but now I can finally play it! THANK YOU SPOONY HOU! It works just fine on my third generation Core i5 with Windows 10! So glad I left the "Notify me" check box ticked! Hahaha

    8. Happy to help! I was wondering how many months it would take for you to see my reply... Yeah, good idea that "notify me" ;).

Also in the comments on the youtube trailer for this game, Andrew left some cheats and interesting commentary. Check it out:

    9. Whoah, that's so weird! I find it very strange that the older build works fine, but people have issues with the newer one. I guess I'll re-host that one here just in case.
Thank you for letting me know!

    10. No probs, man. I get the impression that bug hang up is sound related, as it seems to freeze when the music would start, but I'm just talking out of my ass, so what do I know? Anyway, thanks for making cool games.

  2. I apologize if I'm coming across as irritating at all, but
